Revision Techniques For Students

Hello Friends
Greetings of the day!!

Today my blog is for those students who work hard, study more but don't get good results. Most of the students are facing the problem of " forgetting the lesson", whatever they have studied and prepared it's very difficult to keep in mind for a long time especially in the examination hall.

Here I am giving some revision tips that will give tremendous result if students will follow that. But before that, we have to know some basics concepts about our brain and its nature regarding keeping information in mind i.e. called memory.

According to Hermann  Ebbinghaus ( a German psychologist),

Whatever we learn or remember the forgetting process starts immediately.
He explained how many percents and after how many hours/ days we forget what we have learned earlier.

He gave a curve for mathematical representation of that for better understanding. That curve is called the "Forgetting Curve".

This curve shows how information is lost over time when we don't try to retain that.

Forgetting Curve

from the above figure, we can see

after 20 minutes of learning, we remember almost 58%

"after 1 hour of learning, we remember almost 44%
after 9 hours of learning, we remember almost 36%
after 1 day of learning, we remember almost 33%
after 2 days of learning, we remember almost 28%
after 6 days of learning, we remember almost 25%
after 31 days of learning, we remember almost 21%
          and so on.........."

So, friends, we have seen here how fast we forget the information, once we stored in our brain if we don't try to retain that.  Actually forgetting is a part of human nature. So we don't have to be worried about it.

We can overcome this problem by Revising lesson, again and again.
We have heard
"Repetition is the mother of learning".
Whenever we see or hear any picture or information, again and again, ie in repetitive mode, we don't forget that for a longer period of  time for example;- lyrics of a song, any advertisement or name of any person

Revision means repetition of information.

When we learn something for the first time we should start making a plan for revising it and start revision according to that.
Here I am sharing a method for revision called " Spaced Interval Repetition Method".  according to this method.
We should give
                     1st  review ----- -------------------------------- immediately
                     2nd review -------------------------------------after 24 hour
                     3rd review -------------------------------------after 1 week
                     4th review -------------------------------------after 1 month
                     5th review -------------------------------------after 3 months

Every student, who wants to get success in their exam and career, should follow this repetition technique.

Note:- When you review the topic/ subject try to visualize every sentence with the closed eye you will get amazing results. If you are not able to visualize than try to study loudly it will create an audio-video connection and give good results.

I hope you will follow this method.
Thank you
